On This Day

Have you ever thought about what God said about you on the day you were born?

March 16 was my birthday. One of my friends, a cherished counselor, called to wish me a happy birthday and said, 'Well, Gina, think about what God said about you when you were born.' He said today, A preacher is born, I love you, and you're created for a purpose. It made me emotional, and I thought that was true. I've never thought about it in that way.

Reflecting on what God might have said about me on the day I was born, I felt a deep sense of His intimate knowledge and purpose for my life. This personal connection with God, as revealed in scripture, offers profound insights into His perspective on our creation and existence. My mind immediately went to Psalm 139:13-16, which states, 'For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written every one of them, the days that were formed for me.' And Jeremiah 1:5, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.'

God’s plans have always been good for his children; he created all of us with a purpose, and we’re not mistakes. However, the ones responsible for forming our self-image and how we perceive ourselves and our faith can sometimes fail to do so. When those needs are not met, they create wounds that attract lies, allowing the enemy to creep in and tell a story of unworthiness, worthlessness, not belonging, unlove, and not being good enough. But there is hope. Unhealed wounds create opportunities for the enemy to establish a stronghold, leading to habitual sins and patterns in our lives. We need to reflect on the past, take control of our narrative, and move forward in the process of healing and restoration.

Our Lord is a promised Redeemer. He will bring healing to your soul and allow you to walk in your authentic self, the person he created you to be from the day you were born. And as people made in the image of God, our image bearer, He’s asking us to step into the authentic image, reframe our narratives, free our minds from false assumptions, break free from a negative self-view, and choose the story that He has given us. He’s inviting you to come into his presence and work through it together. His grace is sufficient for you. His healing is for you. You will be healed and walk in wholeness when you turn and seek his face. Please share your thoughts on what you think he said on the day you were born and why.
