Finding Faith

Faith – The English word "faith" originates from the Proto-Indo-European root *bheidh-, meaning trust and confidence, having Complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

But What does the bible say about faith? Now, faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1—As Christians, we are encouraged to embody a lifestyle rooted in faith. This means placing our trust in the certainty that God will faithfully uphold His word and bring every single promise He has made to fruition. It involves wholeheartedly believing in the reliability of God's promises and living our lives following this unwavering trust.

How does one obtain Faith?  Faith is a free gift. Ephesians 2:8–9 affirms this: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” This view is steeped in humility; We do not have sufficient power, will, or resources to obtain faith on our own. As the apostle Paul highlights, it is not part of our own works apart from God freely giving it to us so that no one may boast. It has nothing to do with human efforts; you can, however, pray for faith, and God, in his loving kindness, will gracefully gift it to you because he loves you. Remember, God loves you and wants to bless all who believe, love, and serve Him abundantly. You are loved and valued in His eyes.

How would they believe in him if they had never heard of him? So, then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17. When people hear the good news of the Gospel and the redemption in Jesus preached, they can have faith in Christ and accept His eternal salvation. That’s why every believer has the assignment to share the gospel with nonbelievers. It can be intimidating, but God will equip you to do so. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Mark 16:15. The Great Commission was not limited only to Jesus’s disciples; it was an open invitation to all Christians to spread the gospel to all nations where there is no bible access. Finally, it is by hearing the word of God that our faith is built, and as we obey and follow Christ, our new identity in Christ develops, and we begin to walk by faith and not by sight. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 This simple yet profound statement encapsulates the essence of faith in Christianity, reminding us that our trust in God's promises should guide our actions more than our perception of the world.
