A Lifetime of Seeking You
As I prayed and asked the Lord what he wanted me to speak on this month, He brought my attention to my spiritual journey, a journey best described as “a lifetime of seeking him,”
Life is made of seasons. Seasons come and go, and they take us high and low. We're currently in the transition season from summer to fall; while I like the aesthetics of Fall, I'm also saddened by the idea that summer has ended. Fall means Winter is coming… not my favorite season out of the four…I don’t particularly appreciate that the Days get shorter and that four o'clock in the afternoon feels like 10 PM. However, regardless of how I feel about these seasonal changes, they're inevitable and must take place as long as I live on this side of the planet.
Similarly, as we journey through life, we will inevitably experience different stages, metaphorically described as seasons, not necessarily following a sequence or pattern. It always seems like the challenging seasons last the longest, while seasons of excitement, growth, new beginnings, and stability seem always to be short-lasting—or maybe that’s just a misconception. Perhaps they seem to be shorter because, as they say, time flies when we're having fun!
As stated above, God opened my eyes to the importance of “a lifetime of seeking him.” Reflecting on my life, I realize I have faced every season literally and figuratively. Still, no matter the seasons I went through, whether of rejection, struggles, trials, joy, gladness, loss or gain, darkness or light, God always encouraged me to embrace it all and seek him.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33
Easier said than done, trust me, but it's in those moments of seeking and trusting that his strength manifests in my weakness that I find grace to sustain me, his peace in the middle of chaos, the source of stability in an ever-changing world, hope for my weary soul, trust in the one who holds my tomorrow and who’s always in control.
Come near to God, and he will come near to you. James 4:8
If you seek him, he will be found by you. 1 Chronicles 28:9
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
Regardless of my season, the Holy Spirit always prompted me to seek him and pray in every situation. There’s nothing too small to pray and ask God for. He desires to guide you and give you the desires of your heart according to his will. God wants to be involved in your life, and I feel Him prompting me to share this aspect of my spiritual journey so that it may encourage you.
