What is God’s grace
When we speak of God's grace, we refer to the unmerited favor that He bestows upon each of us, particularly in the context of our salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Grace is defined as unmerited favor, an unconditional, undeserved, unearned love of God. The Hebrew word Chanan, or the Greek word Charis, means “the state of kindness and favor toward someone. It is only by God’s grace and mercy that he has given us the free gift of salvation.
For by grace, you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.,
We were once dead in our sins and transgressions. We were dead and rejecting God, running away from God. But God pursued us and came after us in our low state; he had no reason to go after us. We didn’t deserve it, but he demonstrated his favor and love towards us.
In order for us to personally experience God’s grace, it had to be demonstrated relationally. Through his gracious generosity, he sent us his only begotten Son, Jesus, showing us just how much we mean to Him.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Jesus came and showed us what grace looks like. He showed us that you don’t have to be good or perfect. His grace sets us free from the burden of perfection, empowering us to live a life of faith and love, forgiving our sins, and making us new in Him. It is free grace to us, but a brutal and painful sacrificial act that cost Jesus everything, his own life, giving us the freedom to live without fear, unforgiveness, or guilt.
As we receive His grace, it's vital to remember that grace empowers us to live a holy life for God, meaning we also have the grace to walk from sin forever and not abuse his grace.
What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
