Embrace Your New Identity

Now that you comprehend your identity in Christ, acknowledging that you bear the 'Imago Dei,' which is Latin for 'Image of God.' As (Genesis 1:27) affirms, 'God created man in his image.' meaning you have been purchased and redeemed by Christ. (1 Corinthians 7:23.) How can you now live out this new identity as a follower of Christ?

You can confidently live this new identity by being who God wired you to be—not in your strength but in total dependence on God; you must plug into him to obtain power. This could mean spending time in prayer, reading and meditating on the Bible, or participating in worship and fellowship with other believers.

Always treat others with the same level of kindness and respect you would want to receive. This principle is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Bible, which instructs us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. This love extends to showing mercy, forgiveness, and kindness to all and treating everyone the same way God treats us.

God eagerly anticipates your active participation in the world. What has he specifically called you to do? He has intentionally crafted you for a purpose. Uncover that purpose and make a profound contribution to it. There is immense value and significance in such endeavors, and in fulfilling your unique role, you will find deep fulfillment and joy.

He also wants you to encourage the gifts God puts in others, which could mean affirming their talents, supporting their endeavors, or helping them discover and develop their strengths. By doing this, you can help them walk in their purpose, doing the things he had planned in advance for them to do.

We are to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God (Acts 26:18). This means sharing the message of Christ's love and redemption, and helping others to understand and accept this truth, thereby transforming their lives.

Finally, our testimony as redeemed children of God is a powerful way to express our identity in Christ. Each of us holds a life-changing testimony. In (2 Corinthians 5:20), Apostle Paul refers to us as ambassadors for Christ. Let's strive to be outstanding representatives of our identity in Christ by embodying it in our daily lives and sharing our testimonies.
